The Lab for Neurobiology of Psychiatric Disorders aims to explore molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders or their therapeutic strategies.
Our working assumption is that such brain impairments and their corresponding therapies are related to long term extrinsic and intrinsic excitability modifications. For that we use interdisciplinary approach which involves genetic mice models, fixed and live tissue fluorescent imaging, cutting edge electrophysiology and behavioral paradigms. In addition, we investigate distinct therapeutic strategies at the clinical arena with real-life patients. Our vision is that the convergence of basic science studies together with clinical knowledge will aid in developing and optimizing novel therapeutic strategies that will alleviate the symptoms of neuropsychiatric disorders such as autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.
